Remember Remember the 5th of November
Current mood: tired

So, to all who actually read this thing, I have to once again bow to the wonder of drunken inspiration. I've been putting off doing a huge fundraiser, but finally last night came up with a great idea. On the 5th of November, Bonfire night, we are going to have a proper Bonfire night themed party. For those of you who don't know what Bonfire night is, here's a brief explanation: In 1605, Guy Fawkes, a Catholic, Portuagese mercenary and a bunch of his cronies hatched a plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament in England. Unfortuanately for them, they were caught red-handed with their barrels of gunpowder in the cellars of the building. Guy and friends were hung, drawn and quartered (very pleasant way to die, by the way) and their heads were put on spikes at the Tower of London.
So every year, British people, weirdly enough, commemorate this event by setting off fireworks (I suppose that ties in with the gunpowder theme) and by building a "guy" or dummy man and ceremoniously throwing him on the bonfire. You are also supposed to beg for money to build the guy.
So our fundraising party will include all of these elements, plus an unhealthy amount of booze and lots of yummy and fattening foods.
