Pre-emptive Nerdy Nostalgia

My Writing Center Theory class ended today and I'm about to break up from school for a month. Although the end of the semester has been very stressful and I've been driven crazy, I realised today how much I have to be thankful for this semester. It has exceeded my expectations in so many ways from its first day.
First of all, I really didn't go into my assistantship trying or planning to make friends. I have, however, made friends with many wonderful and interesting people. Thank you to everyone who made an effort to make friends with me and made me feel like I belong. (I told those of you who were in class this morning I'm in a mushy mood today).
I also didn't expect to have my outlook changed in so many ways and to be so inspired by the work I've been doing, both in and out of the classroom. Working with students in the Writing Center has been so very rewarding. My WC Theory class has awakened even more an already budding interest in language and all its weird and wonderful uses. I am now fascinated by the mechanics of and the motivations for and behind writing.
I didn't go into the master's program wanting to teach. I thought I would just work for a publisher or book distributor or something, but tutoring and the composition/rhetoric slant of my experience this semester has made me look forward to teaching next fall semester. In fact, I can't wait. I'm planning fun stuff to do already. My first class will be all about cool stuff like Sex, Drugs and Rock N' Roll, especially Rock N' Roll.
Anyway, I'm so nerdy I'm spending my first night of freedom reading posts on our class message board. I know, I'm sad, but I can't help it! I need Christmas break desperately, but I will miss school. See you all in January.
