I don't give a shit
Current mood: nonchalant

So, those of you who've been around me lately have heard my espousal of the Claire Patented "I don't give a shit" diet. About two months ago, I decided to stop this destructive and unsuccessful habit I have called dieting. I decided that low fat food, Atkins diets and diet cokes were a thing of the past. I decided to always have yummy snacks on hand (I'm talking cookies and goldfish and dark chocolate), always eat when I'm hungry and never when I'm not. I decided to drink wine whenever I wanted, with no regard for its caloric value - same for fried food.
Once you let go of the guilt, you find that you only indulge in these things when you actually want them. Amazing. I never thought it would work, but I've definitely lost weight. I was surfing the internet tonight and found someone else who espouses the "I don't give a shit" diet. Here's the link:

I really didn't want to lose weight either. I was just tired of having a Catholic style guilt relationship with food.

Talk Radio

Last night, on my way to eat Chinese food in Donelson, I had the weird and unusual urge to listen to the radio. I'm usually much more of an ipod girl these days. Lightning 100 was playing a succession of stuff I don't like and all the other radio stations were playing crap too. (I could write a whole rant on the state of music radio in Nashville, but that's another story). So, I resorted to 99.7, talk radio. I know I've heard this guy before, and I've seen his books (worked in bookstores too long not to be familiar with these idiots) but I had honestly forgotten how incredibly out of touch and scarily, incitefully bigotted Michael Savage is.
I suppose I take it for granted sometimes, being largely surrounded by fairly logical, liberally minded people, at school, work and in my family and friends, that people don't think like that.
However, last night, I had a rude awakening. Michael Savage was ranting on because the American government has censured the government of United Arab Emirates because they want to arrest for prostitution and inject with male hormones, fourteen gay men involved in a mock-wedding ceremony. Apparently, Michael Savage thinks this is a rational response to attempted gay marriage. He thinks the American goverment should condone this kind of forced criminalization of homosexuality and forced hormone injections. He even went so far as to say that such a response should be encouraged here. He said that the U.S. government's response was indicative of their true "liberal" bent and evidence of a liberal conspiracy.
Is it just me, or is that fucked up?
Now, in my opinion, this is exactly what's wrong with Democrats and a large chunk of the reason we have that idiot George Bush in office. The Republicans have pulled the strings so people like Rush, Michael Savage, Dave Ramsey and Laura Schlessinger have made talk radio an exclusive means of conservative brainwashing. Go on, try and find a liberal talk radio host.
Believe it or not, there used to be one in Nashville. I loved him. John Grayson's night show on 99.7 helped me retain my sanity during the Monica/Clinton fiasco. Where is John Grayson now? If he's still allowed to broadcast, he's probably on an obsure internet radio station, or on satellite. We can't have those liberals infiltrating normal family friendly radio with their degenerate thoughts.
Those liberals, like John Grayson, had actually heard of blow-jobs before Monica Lewinksi. Can you imagine what kind of corrupt souls they are?
Mysteriously, he is no longer on the radio in Nashville. If anyone knows what happened to him, let me know. I'd love to hear his take on Georgie-Porgie these days.
